• When you shop for a swimsuit, consider that element of a suit that captures your attention first, the top or the bottoms. Then imagine how you’d feel when someone gazes at that part of your body first.

• Check the label and look for a swimsuit that has a high spandex content. The spandex will allow the suit to sustain its shape and compliment yours.

• Get a second or alternate suit especially if you plan to spend most of the summer season beach or pool side. Most fabric for swimsuits take at least a day to dry and be restored to its authentic shape

• Adhere to the washing instruction for the swimsuit such as hand washing it with mild soap and in tepid water and avoid hanging it directly under the sun. Washing your suit in a washer/ dryer will split the Lycra, fade and leech colors and damage the padding and elasticity. Drying it in a clothesline under the sun will also hasten fading and stretching the suit.

• Wash the suit in a suit-cleaning solution if you swim in a pool frequently.

• If you have a fleshy back, opt for a tankini or full tank suit rather than a racer-back since racer-backs squeeze and emphasize back fat.

• Avoid sprawling or sitting directly on rough or granular poolsides since it could cause the suit to tear and hasten its wear and tear.

• Avoid using your best swimsuit while hot tubbing since it will be like throwing it in a washer/dryer.

Romantic floral prints as well bolder geometric and other audacious patterns are emerging as hot fashion trends for 2012. What is exciting is that they are not limited to blouses and dresses but will be seen in jumpsuits and pants. A novel way of mixing prints and patterns is an exciting development that has evolved. Ethnic, tribal and tropical prints will also be all over the place making spring 2012 a mélange of patterns and prints that is totally exhilarating.

Pastels, monochromes and white
Pastels will be the order of the day for 2012. Soft feminine pastels and monochromes on plain and patterned outfits are being advanced by most of the big and famous fashion houses. This very Scandinavian motivated look is like a breath of fresh air making everything look new and fresh. White, “the new black” will be very much in evident as the season moves to warmer weather. The return of 20s and 50s fashion for girls will continue from past seasons. 70s inspired Retro Flare

The 70’s flared jeans are tight jeans with flares cut high on the waist. This type of flare jean cut is best for women with some flab in the tummy to hide or with a muffin top since the high waist tends to keep the flab in check. The Proenza Schouler 2012 resort collection was motivated by a tour of America particularly the Southwest. It has retained the tribal inspiration seen in past seasons but for the resort collection, the outfits were more wearable. Navajo weaves and prints were replace with Ikat in earthy colors and were seen in skirts, suits and dresses.

Maria Cornejo’s resort collection was an explosion of vivid colors, easy-to-wear clothes and authentic prints that fit almost all body types. Her prints and patterns are celebrated and legendary while her outfits are just too cool.

The Prabal Gurung resort collection is another choice for the top 2012 resort collection, is an assembly of vivid florals, candy colors, asymmetrical hems and fun cuts that are perfect for resort wear.
